End Week 1

I don't have a lot of free time this morning, but I thought I would just update my little weight loss ticker.

I didn't go to the gym nearly as much as I hoped last week, but that means I will have to work extra hard this week. I also couldn't quite stop drinking Starbucks cold turkey, but I only had it twice, which is way better than 4-6 times!

So, I'm sad to report, no change this week :(

Happy Passover!

I don't know how many blog stalkers I have, and of those who celebrate Passover, but nonetheless, HAPPY PASSOVER!

This is my first year not actually celebrating Passover. I'm sure my mom isn't happy about that, but oh well. Maybe next year we can do Passover at our house!

I am by no means religious, but I thought for my non Passover celebrating friends, I would share a little about this holiday.

Passover is a biblically-mandated holiday, in which Jews are commanded to recount the story of the Exodus from Egypt and the liberation of the Israelites from slavery. The term "passover" refers to God's sparing of the Hebrew firstborn as he saw the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts of their houses on the night of the Tenth Plague (death of the first-born of all Egyptian families. Also known as the Festival of the Unleavened Bread, this festival refers to the week-long period when leaven (yeast) has been left out, and unleavened bread or matzah ("flatbread"), the holiday's primary symbol, is eaten to recall the rapid departure of the Israelies from Egypt.

Well, that was my blog post for this weekend. Pesach Sameach!

Back to it

It’s been told that anyone who goes on a cruise is bound to gain weight. There is more than enough food, that is just ALWAYS available for the eating. The pizza, the ice cream, and definitely the alcohol! As you may know I got married on a cruise, and honeymooned on one too. I consider myself lucky, and only gained 2lbs, especially since I had worked so hard at losing it before the wedding. It’s now been 9½ months since I got married, and have gained 15lbs! I am not going to make excuses, as to how or why. The point is, I’m disgusted with the way I look, and summer is around the corner, and me wearing a bathing suit, well, just isn’t going to happen.

I decided last week that enough is enough, and I needed to get my ass back into gear, and get back to the gym. I went to check out one gym on Friday, and it seemed nice, but heard some about some bad experiences some people have had. Yesterday, I went to LA Fitness, a reputable gym that I was once a member of before. I stopped saying that I have to do it, I have to do it, I just did it. I’m not crazy about their personal trainers, at least I wasn’t at the gym I went to, but maybe this one will be different. Right now, it’s more for the cardio, and I know a lot of the weight machines already, I can also do some of the free weights on my own. I also bought myself a book, to help remind me of some of the exercises I need to do, and what targets what.

So, here I am. I have set my first goal to get back to the weight I was the day I got married. I will “weigh-in” on Monday mornings. Wish me luck :)

YBor

A beautiful day equals opportunity to go take some pictures again. I met up with Chanele and Avian, and we invited Chanele's brother Josh to come along so we can take pictures of him on his new bike.
I also got to use my new Sigma 28-300mm Macro lens for the first time!
